The newest edition to Capital Area Health Network's umbrella of Medical Centers is Southside Medical Center. This neighborhood center is located in the Manchester Medical building. In Modern times, “Old Manchester” was considered one of Richmond most prosperous neighborhoods. It leaves behind remnants of its past that are very visible, notably the Manchester Courthouse, the Hull Street Business District and several former railroad and street railway buildings. As a part of the community’s African American heritage, former “slave trails” can still be found. Additionally, Interstate 95 and four other major highways all cross the James River and enter downtown Richmond from Manchester.
