DART
DART - Diabetes Action, Resources, and Training
DART is an innovative initiative to reduce the health disparity in diabetes mellitus among high-risk African Americans living in Richmond’s East End neighborhood and surrounding areas.. The overall goal of the intervention is to support diabetics in the day-today self-management of their disease. The program also includes prevention education. DART is a six week program where participants meet once a week for a two hour session. Six iterations of the program will be given each year and new members can join at the beginning of each intervention.

DART will utilize a community-based participatory research (CBPR) model that will use trained Peer Educators to reach out and engage the target population. In its commitment to the highest level of excellence in our services and programs, CAHN is bringing DART to the East End community, to provide education, resources, and activities in an interactive, fun, and supportive environment.
