Capital Area Health Network invites you to join us at our third annual Live Healthy Campaign Block Party on August 15, 2009 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.  We foresee a fun, innovative health fair with a “block party” atmosphere that celebrates the importance of health and its impact on quality of life! 

As you know, we are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality and affordable health care to residents of Metro Richmond. We presently have three medical centers in our network:  Vernon J. Harris Medical Center in Church Hill, Main Street Medical Center near Shockoe Bottom and North Side Medical Center in the Brookland Park, neighborhood.  68% of our patients are uninsured and face huge health, economic, transportation, and employment challenges. While our main goal is to provide primary medical, dental, mental health, and social resources, we also realize that health education is fundamental to the wellbeing of our patients.  The “Live Healthy Campaign” is by design a fun way to educate our communities on the benefits of getting, and more importantly staying healthy.
 
We have a power packed week of events this year for the entire family. The kick-off festivities start on Monday August 4th with media day and a pep rally at the Vernon J. Harris Medical Center. From there we begin celebrating National Health Center Week at each of our medical facilities, bringing awareness and the importance of medical centers throughout our city. On Saturday August 9th,   “We Bring the Streets to Life!” The festivities return to the Vernon J. Harris Medical Center (719 N. 25th Street) to celebrate our theme, “Living Healthy.” Last year thousands of people came out and enjoyed the sights, sounds, and some pretty savory dishes too.  This year the key is MORE!  We will feature health screenings, healthy living demonstrations, more arts and crafts, more great music, and, for the young, and young at heart, it’s the Kidz Zone with clowns, face painting, a playground, inflatable games, and so much more!   

As you so graciously responded last year, we need your support again to make 2009 even greater.  The message to our communities is to “Live Healthy” and your sponsorship allows us to do just that.
